Automotive Service Advisor / Writer

Sacramento's Volvo Service (SVS) has been the Sacramento area’s highest rated independent Volvo repair and maintenance service since 1980. We’re looking for a hard working, self motivated individual to work directly with SVS customers and also help manage the shop. The individual must have a strong work ethic and the desire to please our customers in a courteous and professional manner. The service advisor/writer has the opportunity to interact with hundreds of long-time customers to build and maintain customer loyalty by developing trust and ensuring confidence in SVS as a caretaker for their vehicle safety and reliability.

Attention to detail and ability to multitask is a must. Impeccable organizational skills are additional traits that will go great with our company's overall goals and values. Excellent reviews and five-star ratings are a high priority for this position.

We are open for business from 8:00am to 5:30pm, and are closed Saturday and Sunday. We offer a competitive compensation package.

Job Purpose:

Initiates automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer rapport and records.

Duties:

  • Ascertains automotive problems and services by listening to customer's description of symptoms; clarifying description of problems; conducting inspections; checking vehicle maintenance records; examining service schedules.

  • Develops estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculating customer's payment, including deductibles.

  • Prepares repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtaining approval signatures; entering RO into service database system.

  • Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle; obtaining customer's approval of estimates; obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers; answering questions and concerns; arranging towing and temporary transportation.

  • Maintains automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.

  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Ability to work well in a process driven environment.

  • Follow up with customers to verify complete satisfaction.
